Pheromones and sex
What are pheromones?
The term pheromone was first coined by the German biochemist Peter Karlson and the Swiss entomologist Martin Lüscher.
Pheromones are chemicals that are secreted through sweat and that can attract the opposite sex. Thus, for example, women
during their most fertile period emit an odor that seems to be very attractive to men.
Pheromone signals are detected through the Nasal Vomero organ that sends signals to the brain, increasing libido, arousal and sexual desire.
It is also interesting to know that the word "pheromone" comes from the Greek pheron "transfer" and "hormon" excite. Although
what interests us here is the power of pheromones in humans, it is also interesting to mention that numerous plants and
animals also send “chemical messages” to reject or attract each other.
There are many studies that have been carried out on the power of pheromones. The Karonlinska in Stockholm, the University of
San Francisco or the Monell Center for the Senses in Philadelphia show that they can cause arousal in people.
We will tell you two interesting experiments. A team of scientists designed a room with exaltolide in their chairs, the
equivalent of industrial androstenol. Without knowing it, the women chose the seat with exaltolide and the men rejected it.
In another study, alcohol and pheromones were added to fragrances used by 38-year-olds without their knowledge. After 8 weeks
of using the cologne, 47% reported having had more sex than usual.
Synthetic pheromones
All of this made marketers around the world get excited and wonder, What if we commercialized synthetic pheromones? It could
be a real boom. This is how today there are numerous stores where they sell "pheromone bottles", perfumes, what we could also
call "attraction bottles". On the other hand and in parallel to these commercial jars there are numerous homemade recipes.
Really, if you are curious, you can try a perfume with pheromones.
